Filbert’s has been serving Chicagoland from the Bridgeport community for 85 years. They are known for their famous root beer, but did you realize that Filbert’s makes 26 flavors of pop?
The lucky people who attend our launch party will be able to sample many of the Filbert’s flavors. Come out to taste a freshly bottled pop and support one of Bridgeport’s own. Of course, you will find pictures of the Filbert’s family operation in our book, too.
Bridgeport’s, The Hardscrabbler published a great piece about Filbert’s last year, check it out here.
So happy to announce that Bridgeport Pasty will be sharing samples of their tasty, hot pasties during our party.
If you’ve never tried a pasty, they are similar to hand-held pot pies. Basically crusty, buttery dough stuffed with steak, chicken, veggies, spices and yummy secrets. Here is the Bridgeport Pasty menu.
Jay, Carrie and Patsy the Pastymobile will be on hand to serve you and answer all of your questions about their products, availability, catering and little green truck.
Maureen F. Sullivan, author of Images Of America: Bridgeport appeared this morning on WBEZ radio with Richard Steele on the Eight Forty Eight program to talk about the neighborhood, the book, history and change. We heard back from lots of friends while it was on, but if you missed it, here’s a link where you can listen.
